1,000 years ago, the city of Toltec was the jewel of northern Koldor.  

It was a crossroads.  A center of trade, of culture, of religion, of knowledge.  

It was the home of the mightiest wizards in the North.  It was wealthy, secure and at peace, but when Pelor flung Ith'Meireun from her in her wrath, Toltec was doomed.

And so a cabbal of the mightiest wizards gathered their power and wove a spell to save Toltec, to preserve it, to keep it lush and green even as the mountains and valleys around it became a desolate wasteland.  That night, Toltec vanished.

Every 100 years, the city reappears.  It materializes in a hidden valley that very few know the ancient roads to.  In this way, the city has survived the worst elementsof the destruction of the world.  It was not, however, secure.

After its fifth appearance, several evil tribes of abominations and cruel, inhuman beasts knew of its coming appearance and they prepared an attack.  They waited until the city appeared, warm and shielded by magic, and they stormed it, brutally slaying all before them, and the people of Toltec died.

When Toltec vanished again, it took its new masters with it to safety.

Now, the son of the barbarian king has led an expedition to reclaim the city and loot its treasures.  He has been captured, and has not returned.
